GMP Supplements: What the Term Actually Means

FDA requires firms that manufacture, package or hold dietary supplements to follow applicable current good manufacturing practices. These requirements address manufacturing controls such as identity, purity, quality, strength and composition.

GMP compliance is important, but it does not by itself prove that a supplement produces a marketed health outcome.
